An Example Kiitos Hand:

Player 1, Ashley, who is to lead, has a hand of:

Player 2, Bobby, has a hand of:

Ashley says “WORTHLESS” and plays the W - W
Bobby has to play the O (he has the O, so he is compelled to follow) - WO
Ashley has to follow with the R (again, because he is compelled to), - WOR
Bobby doesn’t have a T, so plays his L and says “WORLDWIDE” - WORL
Ashley is compelled to play his D - WORLD
Bobby can’t play a W (there’s only one in the deck), so plays L and says “WORLDLY” - WORLDL
Ashley can’t play a Y and can’t think of anything else so he picks up the played letters and puts them in his face down, negative pile.

So Ashley gets 6 negative points. Bobby could have said “WORLD” instead of “WORLDWIDE” and if he had, he would have got 5 positive points (and possibly 10 positive points if the Positive Pile x 2 card was face up)
